Explanation:

Answer 2

Answer: During the early 1800s, the United States began to shift its international beliefs away from isolationism and towards expansionism. This was due in part to the Louisiana Purchase in 1803, which doubled the size of the country and opened up new opportunities for westward expansion. Additionally, the War of 1812 helped to solidify American nationalism and increase the country's desire for international recognition and influence.

As the country grew, many Americans began to see the United States as a "city upon a hill" and believed it was their duty to spread democracy and American values throughout the world. This idea was known as Manifest Destiny and played a significant role in the country's westward expansion and territorial acquisitions.

Overall, the early 1800s marked a significant shift in American international beliefs, from a focus on isolationism and neutrality to one of expansionism and a desire for international recognition and influence.

describe two ways the Maya changed their environment to meet their needs

Answers

The Maya civilization, which flourished in present-day Mexico, and Guatemala, from about 2000 BCE to the Spanish conquest in the 16th century, made significant changes to their environment to meet their needs.

What changes did they make?

One way was through agriculture, as they cleared forests, constructed terraces on hillsides, and built canals and reservoirs to irrigate crops like maize, beans, and squash.

Another way was through the construction of cities, which required the quarrying and shaping of stone, the creation of roads and causeways, and the building of massive structures like pyramids and temples using labor-intensive techniques. These changes allowed the Maya to support large populations and establish a sophisticated civilization.

Option (a), Businesses had to reduce production, and people's reduced purchasing power contributed to the Great Depression.

The Great Depression: What happened to production?

The industrial production fell by over 47% between 1929 and 1933 in the United States, where the Depression was generally the worst; the GDP fell by 30%; and the unemployment rate increased to more than 20%.

During the stock market crisis, consumer confidence plunged, causing a decrease in spending and investment, which in turn led to a decrease in spending and investment, which in turn drove factories and other businesses to slow down output and begin laying off workers.

Was the Great Depression influenced by overproduction?

The Great Depression was initially sparked by the stock market crash in October 1929, but it was prolonged for ten years by a number of other factors. Inaction on the part of the government, immature tariffs, excessive output, and a newly-elected Federal Reserve all contributed to the Great Depression's escalation.

Before the Civil War African Americans were considered less than inferior when compared to their white counterparts and in general, slaves adapted to this form of life, not thinking about fighting much against it, with a few exceptions. However, after the War, and especially during the 1800´s, especially the late, 1800´s, the movement of African American leaders increased enormously, to the point that they not only managed to overturn many of the policies established by President Andrew Johnson, which continued segregation and refused the right to vote and be represented for African Americans, but they managed to become a force to be reconed with in the South. Aside from acomplishing the right to vote, several leagues that fought for the rights of African Americans were formed in the 1860´s and later on, African Americans also managed to influence the rise to power of the Republicans to Congress in 1866 and changed the face of Reconstruction, with a more active role for them. Between 1867 and 1877, a period known as the Radical Reconstruction, African Americans received from Congress the status of U.S citizens and acquired all the rights that came with that. They achieved so much that African Americans managed to be elected into different governmental positions and even became a moving force in states like South Carolina and Louisiana. Finally, and among many other achievements, African Americans managed, during Reconstruction, to have 16 members of Congress elected.

Explain the conflict between the Guomindang and the Chinese communist. What caused the two Groups to unite temporarily?

Answers

Answer:

The Guomindang (also known as the Nationalist Party) and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) were the two main political parties in China in the early 20th century. They had fundamentally different ideologies, with the Guomindang being a right-wing party that advocated for democracy and nationalism, while the CCP was a left-wing party that advocated for socialism and communism. The conflict between the two parties began in the 1920s and lasted for several decades.

The main cause of the conflict was the struggle for political power and control over China's future. The Guomindang, led by Chiang Kai-shek, had the support of the military and the urban middle class, while the CCP had the support of the peasants and the workers. The Guomindang was wary of the CCP's revolutionary ideology and feared that the CCP would undermine its power and lead China down the path of communism. On the other hand, the CCP saw the Guomindang as a tool of the imperialist powers and accused it of being corrupt and oppressive.

The conflict between the two parties intensified in the 1930s, with the outbreak of the Chinese Civil War. The Guomindang and the CCP fought against each other for control of China, with each side receiving support from different foreign powers. The CCP was able to win the support of the peasants by promising to redistribute land and improve their lives, while the Guomindang struggled to maintain its legitimacy.

However, despite their differences, the Guomindang and the CCP united temporarily during World War II to fight against the Japanese invasion of China. The two parties put aside their ideological differences and worked together to defend China against a common enemy. However, after the end of the war, the truce between the two parties quickly broke down and the conflict resumed. Ultimately, the CCP was able to emerge victorious and establish the People's Republic of China in 1949, while the Guomindang fled to Taiwan.

if sll the emigrants who traveled west had known in advance the difficulty of line on the trail, how might that have changed the great migration and manifedt destiny?

Answers

If emigrants had known in advance the true difficulty of life on the trail, it could have changed the course of westward expansion in significant ways.

How would it have change it?

If all the emigrants who traveled west had known in advance the difficulty of life on the trail, it could have potentially changed the course of the Great Migration and Manifest Destiny in several ways:

It may have deterred some emigrants from making the journey altogether. The dangers and hardships of traveling west were widely known, but if the full extent of those challenges had been understood beforehand, it's possible that some people may have decided that the risks were not worth it.

Emigrants may have better prepared for the journey. If they knew the full extent of the challenges they would face, emigrants could have taken better precautions to ensure their safety and survival. This could include bringing more food and supplies, hiring experienced guides, and making sure they had adequate shelter and clothing.

It may have led to different routes being taken. If emigrants knew more about the challenges of specific trails, they may have chosen alternative routes that were less difficult or dangerous.

It could have led to more government support for westward expansion. If the challenges of westward expansion were better understood, there may have been greater pressure on the government to provide more support and resources for emigrants making the journey.

Overall, if emigrants had known in advance the true difficulty of life on the trail, it could have changed the course of westward expansion in significant ways. However, it's impossible to say exactly how things would have played out, as historical events are shaped by a complex web of factors and influences.

Evaluate the cultural impact of the Cold War on two countries, each chosen from a different region.

Answers

Answer:

The Cold War had a profound impact on many countries across the world, with both positive and negative consequences. Two countries that experienced significant cultural changes as a result of the Cold War were the United States and Cuba.

In the United States, the Cold War led to a heightened sense of patriotism and nationalism, as the country became deeply invested in the struggle against communism. This led to a cultural emphasis on American exceptionalism, with a renewed focus on the values of democracy, freedom, and capitalism. At the same time, the Cold War also fueled anxiety and fear about the threat of communism, leading to increased censorship and a focus on conformity in American culture.

In Cuba, the Cold War had a more direct impact, as the country became a key battleground in the struggle between the United States and the Soviet Union. The Cuban Revolution of 1959, led by Fidel Castro, established a communist government and aligned the country with the Soviet Union, leading to a significant shift in Cuban culture. The new government emphasized socialist values, including equality, education, and healthcare, and implemented sweeping social and economic reforms. However, the close relationship with the Soviet Union also led to increased political repression and censorship, particularly during the 1970s and 1980s.

Overall, the Cold War had a profound cultural impact on countries across the world, shaping national identities and values, fueling anxiety and fear, and spurring significant social and political changes.
